Rossel Point

Rossel Point
I have been suffering from a bit of a tendon strain in one of my feet and have not walked for a couple of weeks, so I wanted something short and not too taxing to test the foot out. It turned out to be reasonably short, but far from easy, due to the scrub and cutting grass, but overall was not too bad. I did end up taking a circuitous path in places, trying to avoid the cutting grass, mainly.
The walk started at Roaring Beach near Southport at the end of Roaring Beach Road.
The first short section was on track down to the beach and then along to the rocks where I left the beach for a short section before coming down to the rocks once again.

I walked along the rocks again for a short distance before climbing up above the cliffs and walking along a vague track. There were good views here and there along the cliffs.

The track continued on for some distance and then became non existent so I ended up dealing with cutting grass and trying to find a way around it. Hence the not so direct route. I did head for a track which was marked on the map, but it had almost been reclaimed by the bush. However there was just enough of it visible to make it any easier path. It took about 2'15" to reach Rossel Point.

There were good views from Rossel Point and after staying for a short time, I started back determined to find an easier route. It did not work out that way because whichever way I turned, I seemed to find the cutting grass. I did eventually find my way back to the easier walking along the cliff tops and eventually back to the car. It did take me a bit longer going back because I ventured out to some of the various headlands on the way.

I don't know if I would recommend this walk beacuse of the scrub and cutting grass, but I guess the nice coastal scenery made up for that.

Denmans Cove

Denmans Cove
I took a friend to Denmans Cove today as she had not been before. The weather was absolutely perfect for this good little walk on the Tasman Peninsula. The track is overgrowing somewhat and there are a few more trees and logs across the track but it is still easy to follow. For track notes and access see Denmans Cove 2013 and Surveyors Cove 2016 .
