Mount Brown |
To reach the start of the walk turn on to C347 just past Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula and drive to the Remarkable Cave car park at the end of the road. Remarkable Cave is worth checking out also via a very short walk.
It had been raining the previous night so I knew the foliage was going to be wet along the track. I set off just after 0800 and as suspected I was soon quite wet, but it did not matter. The track went up and down sand dunes but was easy walking. After about 1.5 kms. I reached Maingon Blowhole which was shooting up a spray of mist.

Continuing on, I reached the base of Mount Brown and followed a line of cairns up to the trig point on the summit where the were great views all around. I then walk west over to the edge of the cliff line where I could get a good look at Dauntless Point.

From here I walked back to find the ascent track and walked back down and continued on to Crescent Bay beach. This is a beautiful beach backed by quite high dunes. There was not another person in sight as I walked along the beach to Stand Up Point. I had intended to walk around to the point to check out a couple of blowholes, but the tide was quite high and so were the waves, and as the rocks were rather slippery I declined to continue.

Crescent Bay |
After having a break for a snack I walked back to the car. This was an excellent walk with brilliant coastal views.

Time: 3'30"
