Farmhouse Creek

Farmhouse Creek
We walked along the Farmhouse creek track today and turned around at the turnoff to Lake Sydney. Our intention was to walk about that far depending mainly on how everyone was going.
The walk starts at the end of Picton Road where the original road bridge has been replaced by a pedestrian bridge. This is the same start point as the Eastern Arthurs Traverse and Federation Peak etc.
The weather forecast was not great and we had a few showers on the drive down but by the time we arrived at the start the weather was fine but overcast, and stayed fine for the entire walk.
We started off over the bridge and then along the track which basically follows Farmhouse Creek for all but a small section of the walk we completed. The track climbed steadily all the way until our turnaround point. As we gained altitude the track became muddier and muddier. I was expecting it to be a little drier as we are in the dry season and have not had any significant ran for a while. Never the less we had fun.
This was a good walk through some nice forest.
Distance:12.4 kms.
Time: 5'52"
Ascent: 410 metres

  1. In the 1980s I attended the area because of the battle between Foresters and the Conservationists. Of all the people the Conservationist came out of the trees at night, gave us shelter and food. Next morning, battle lines re draw. They fed us and gave us shelter from the cold. We also had a swim in FarmHouse Creek. It was that cold it nearly froze our tits off.
