Deadmans Point

Tuesday 7th May 2019

Deadmans Point
The walk today took in various tracks and roads in the Kettering area.
I parked the car in Doughboy Drive and walked up to the Manuka Hills track and followed it down to Wilsons Road and then along some roads and tracks to Kettering marina.

I walked around Kettering Point and then to Trial Bay and on to Deadmans Point. There is no track around Deadmans Point so the only real way is to walk around the rocks on the coastline. Best done when the tide is low. There is one place on the point where a scramble is required to go up and over some cliffs but it is quite easy.

After rounding the point I headed for the slipyards and then followed a couple of roads back to Kettering.

I picked up the track that goes around Oyster Cove Point and walked that to Manuka Road.

I followed Manuka Road for a time and then a few other roads and tracks back into the Manuka Hills reserve and finally back to the car. There was an old hut beside Manuka Road which looked interesting.

This was a good easy walk on a great day.
